FAQ

Why get waxed?

Waxing ensures that skin remains smooth and hair free for weeks after your treatment, making it a much more skin friendly alternative to shaving. Shaving is also commonly associated with ingrown hairs, skin irritations and course stubble.. Waxing will, over time ensure hair growth is slower, softer and you will often notice a reduction in volume after regular treatments.

How long will the results last?

This is a tricky one to answer because everyone’s hair growth is different. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two after waxing, noticeably increasing during the third and fourth week. At this point you should be thinking of making another appointment to ensure a regular waxing pattern is followed. If you are new to waxing it can take up to four treatments for your hair to develop a growth cycle which will give the best results. We recommend waxing every four weeks to maintain your smooth appearance.  Continued waxing encourages slower, sparser re-growth.

How long should I wait between waxing treatments?

Usually 4-6 weeks depending on how quickly or slowly your hair grows.  Usually hair grows slower in winter months and faster in the summer months (so you would need to come in more frequently.) If you’re serious about maintaining that clean and sexy feeling, we recommend that you come in every 4 weeks for the first 4 appointments. You’ll then find that the you’ll be able to leave longer gaps between your appointments.

How long does the hair have to be?
For best results we recommend hair is approximately 5-6mm in length. If you are new to waxing and regularly shave, we suggest allowing the hair to grow for 2-3 weeks to ensure the hair is at the correct length for your treatment.

Does waxing hurt?
Yes.  The bottom line is that your hair is being pulled out by the root. But don’t worry,  it’s rather like removing a plaster. Different body parts hurt more or less than others.  We try to minimize the pain by utilizing superior wax techniques and by waxing as quickly as possible. If you are a wax virgin then you may find it slightly more uncomfortable at first. The more waxing you have the less uncomfortable it becomes. It really depends on your threshold – taking pain killers around one hour prior to any waxing treatment may help.

Can I get my eyebrows waxed the same day I receive a facial?
We do not recommend doing so.  Most of our facials include exfoliation and acids that may make the skin too sensitive to have a wax service the same day.  Please space them at least 24 hours between each other.  Try eyebrow threading or tweezing instead for a safer alternative.

Can I tan or go to the beach after my service?
To prevent burning or discoloration of your skin you must allow at least 24 hours after a wax service before going into the sun.  The topmost layer of dead skin that protects skin from burning rays of the sun is removed during waxing.

Should I shave down the hair?
Your waxing may be more comfortable if the hair is shaved down but remember there MUST be at least half an inch of hair for the waxing to be effective. To guarantee this no shaving must be done within 3 weeks of your treatment. Check with us before shaving.
What do I choose? Male Brazilian or Male Hollywood?
This is completely your choice! Most clients want the traditional Hollywood leaving no pubic hair at all. The Brazilian leaves some hair above the penis area, it’s all down to what you want.
What’s a BSC?
BSC stands for Back, sac and crack. This waxing treatment removes the hair from these areas, and is the most popular male waxes we offer.
How can I avoid in-growing hairs?
Exfoliate the skin thoroughly to remove dead skin cells. Moisturise the skin every day. If the skin is supple new growth can break through more easily reducing the risk of in-growing hairs and infection.

Why get waxed?
Men and women from all professions and of all ages get waxed. More than you would ever dream of. The reasons range from it being cleaner, to it improving their love life as it heightens sensitivity.

Waxing Aftercare
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours, also try to avoid deodorant, hot showers, chlorinated pools, solariums, spas and saunas for 48 hours as these will iritate the skin. Use a loofah after two days, two or three times a week to minimise ingrown hairs. Moisturise daily and don’t shave or tweeze in between appointments and you’ll get great results.
